Why don't patterns fit?

Most people buy the wrong pattern size. It is usually too big. The full bust measurement is just too full! Try the high bust or chest measurment. This will come closer to fitting your neck and shoulders as well as the bust!

Why should I make a muslin?

You need to 'try out' the pattern. A muslin is a mock up or sample of a pattern. The pattern is not meant to be cut and sewn straight out of the envelope. The biggest advantage to sewing your own garment is fit.

How do I choose the right fabric for a pattern?

Some patterns make suggestions. Sometimes you can get an idea from a retail clothing store. We suggest you talk with our friendly and knowledgeable staff at our fabric store. Everyone at Fabrique! has unique sewing related talents. We love to hear your ideas and help you choose the best fabric to make your garment.

I can sew, but I need to brush up on a few things. Can you help?

Yes! We offer single classes for various aspects of a garment. Sometimes you are 'not so good' at zippers, or hems, or buttonholes, WE HAVE A CLASS FOR YOU! 1 1/2 hours of demonstration. You can view our class calendar here Class Calendar. We also offer one-on-one classess. If you need to see a demonstration of a technique, we can show you and watch you do it.

How do you sew with those beautiful laces?

Very Carefully! There are special techniques used for the diffrerent types. We can show you examples and reassure you before you begin. Lace is incredibly strong and it forgives easily. Simple designs work best.

I love your fabric but can't sew myself. Do you know someone who can make it for me?

We have wonderful independent dressmakers that we can recommend. They will meet you at our store to go over your ideas, then your fittings will be held in our fitting room at Fabrique!

Can I order from your website?

Yes, Please call us! We personally help you with everything necessary to make your design. Then we can take your credit card information over the phone and send the fabric to you. Courier services is also available in the DFW Metroplex.

Do you offer discounts to designers or dressmakers?

Yes! We welcome you. Business card and Tax ID Number is all you need for a discount! . If you need large quantities we can help.
